Today I went writing with Aly Ashcroft. We met at 11:30am at Williams on Pier 8. I got there early and read in my car. I’m currently reading two books: Blue Remembered Hills by Rosemary Sutcliff during the day (school work) and Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller during the night (leisure). When I walked into Williams I bought a black coffee and a caramel ice cream sundae. It was scrumptious. Aly and I are both working on our first unpublished novels. Mine is a memoir about hearing voices and Aly’s is a drama about an underground star factory. We’ve both written a first draft and are now editing our work. I plan on consulting a professional editor/writer for mentoring and script evaluation before I submit to agents. Aly was pleasantly surprised to see how impressive her writing is, while I am somewhat less confident in my own talent. My book needs A LOT of work. But it’ll get there. Somehow. Someway. Sometime.
