Today I finished reading The Silver Arrow by Lev Grossman. The Silver Arrow is a chapbook with pictures meant for kids, but I still enjoyed it. Grossman is one of my favourite authors; I’ve enjoyed some of his adult works like The Magicians series. The book is about a little girl who gets a magical train from her uncle for her 11th birthday and this train takes her all across the world and has wild animals for passengers.
I read the ebook but I was thinking of buying a hard copy of it and the sequel for my nephew’s birthday in October, but I was concerned he might find the end too preachy – do children pick up on that sort of thing? I just thought he’d find the facts about rare animals interesting because he loves certain animals. Can’t stand Zazu, our rambunctious family dog, though. He’s probably afraid Zazu will lick him with his poop mouth.
Next up on the docket is The Golden Swift, which is the sequel to The Silver Arrow. I finished this one in two days, maybe I can beat my record.
