Friday the 20th was my brother Dean’s 25th birthday! Mom got Cinnarolls from Costco. Then on Saturday we all went to The Mandarin for lunch. In a week’s time it will be Mom’s birthday so we were celebrating both. I ate twice as many calories in a single lunch then I usually eat in a day. I had onion rings, mashed potatoes, chicken dumplings, won ton soup, calamari, sushi, peaches, crème brûlée, brownies, moon cake, Rice Krispie squares, ice cream with caramel sauce and mini m&ms… I forget it all! After we were completely stuffed we went to Adventure Village and played a round of mini putt. It was sunny and hot out and I was not in the spirit. But it was more fun and quicker than I thought it would be. Got some local Hamilton inspiration off the signs posted by the holes that I’ll use for my upcoming novel. We didn’t keep score so I have no way of knowing who won. Probably Dean – he got some hole in ones. I think Tommy had fun but it might have been a challenge of patience for a five year old who just ate til he couldn’t eat anymore. After mini putt, M. and I went to Collective Arts and tried the new mango, lime, jalapeño gose. It stung my mouth in a good way and reminded me of juice, not beer. M. said he “wouldn’t want a steady diet of it” but would like it once and a while. We also had an apple cider, which was refreshing and mild. Then we came back home and sat out on the deck with Zazu for a bit, talking of classic movies from our childhood. M. left around 6:00pm and I fell asleep shortly after, sleeping until noon the next day. Something about a big meal.
