Today is a mixed day.
I met with Anna Chatterton, the writer-in-residence at the Hamilton Library. We met at her office at McMaster. I had to ask a couple people how to find it but I got there early. She gave me some really positive, encouraging feedback about my first chapter. We talked about writing, the process of getting published, and ways I could improve my sample. I left feeling very bright and cheery.
When we got home, though, we found that Pumba wasn’t doing well. She had been outside for two hours not wanting to come in, shaking, and laying in her own pee. My parents took her to the vet and had to put her down. She had cancer and some other things and was in too much pain. I’m not sure how old Pumba was, maybe 14 or so. She lived a good life, liked to play fetch and sockie. She could actually take my dad’s socks off. She could chase the ball for hours, and even a few weeks ago she was chasing the ball though maybe not as determinedly. I will miss her.
In other news, I had a call with a potential employer today which went well and I got a second interview! Don’t want to say more just yet, but fingers crossed.
