I finished reading Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Miller has only written two books and a short story, but she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. SoA is about two boys in Ancient Greece, Achilles and Patroclus, who develop a strong bond that sees them through war, dysfunctional families, godhood, and jealousy. I liked it quite a bit, but to be truthful, I enjoyed Miller’s second book Circe more. It’s exciting to watch her writing skills develop in real time. What I like best about Miller’s writing is her precision; each sentence is carefully constructed and impactful. It was enjoyable to read and I would recommend it.
